One of my 10 day old speckled sussex seems to like spinning.
I can't see anything wrong with her that could be causing this. She walks fine, no leg problems. Her head and neck look fine, not twisted or staring up at an angle. She is balanced, active and content, she just seems to like taking an extra twirl for no reason. It's not always in the same direction either. She reminds me of my girls when they were little spinning around in their dresses to make them poof out.

Please tell me this isn't a bad sign.

Sounds like my Dorothy (aka Doe or Do-Do). Always travels slightly left, spins, squawks, a total wingnut. But when she's on my shoulder, she's a living doll!

Hi Lynne,

How old is your Dorothy?

My chick is still in the brooder, so I can't tell if she has steering problems yet.

Does yours suffer any because of her problem?

She's fine and turning a year old next week.
She flies crooked, slightly left.
She always looks a tad off-kilter.
Just watch your girl for signs of illness, but I bet she simply has one leg tendon a little shorter than the other. That's what I've always figured about Doe, or that her vision was not perfect. No amount of examining her ever proved anything though, and she's a great layer!
