Dumb spot as in a spot on the body, for example a dog's stomach, where you can pet them and they just go kinda comatose in relaxation...

My little 6 week old chicks came in for the night and the roo was standing on the ground while I stroked his neck behind his head. He literally put his head in my palm while I stroked with the other hand and completely relaxed and closed his eyes. It was the funniest thing. So I grabbed little pullet next to him and tried the same thing with her. She did the exact same thing. So CUTE...and funny...Is the back of the neck going down to their shoulders a very sensitive spot or something? Or are my birds just silly babies.

It's adorable.

really? I would love to find such a spot but my birds have grown up and don't want me to touch them. (and while I love and value my roo I don't crowd his space) I got 4 new chicks yesterday and am going to try to get them very comfortable with me.

yeah, no I am not going to be trying this on the other OLDER girls who aren't quarantined. They don't even like being picked up...These little ones are just 6 weeks old and I've had them since Saturday, they are very friendly and just melted in my hand when I started petting them along their neck...So freaking cute! Next season when we get some day olds I am going to try this with them too...Oh and the babies got their first worm today, it was the funniest thing. They weren't sure at all what to do with it..Poor worm got pecked into multiple pieces before being eaten.

Wait until they are full grown and you do the exact same thing, they almost purr like a cat.
