My saga of pranking my mom of ordering baby chicks was fascinating. I honestly thought she would get extremely mad. But it turn out the opposite that time.

During around January. I bought two young pullets. A Silkie and Polish. Boy I was in loved with them. I bought a large dog crate as temporary housing. Until I was hoping to reclaim my old chicken coop.
My mother saw the chickens. She honestly gave me a hard time. She more upset I bought the dog crate. I should have told her before hand. I think she was also upset I never told her about buying the chicken in the first place. But I’m like...why do I have to tell you when your not home at all. Just their for quick moment and leave back to her boyfriend house.
The next day, she really wanted to argue all day long with me about the chickens. I made the decision to give them back to the breeder. I also canceled my order from MyPetChicken. I was honestly heartbroken.
My had mom had made a deal with me I can make a small coop. But she didn’t specify how much space. I knew it be small. It made me rethink about keeping chickens. There also another space pad I could have took and next to it sit a swamp cooler. Beneath the structure could help keep that section cooler during summer. Giving me a total of 18 Sqft. Way smaller than my want of my want of takeover of my old coop. That space is more convenient of being 30 Sqft.
Sometime I wonder if I should have took the offer. I could have kept the two chicken or bantams breeds instead. Although I initially imagine myself with some EE or Rhode Island Red. Their cute personally with big body and fluffy butt. lol

But my feelings also felt...I made the right decision to put everything on hold at the moment.

Often there isn’t a right or wrong choice to these things. You did what is best for you at the moment, and that’s all that matters. It’s a hard situation. Someday you’ll hopefully be able to keep thousands of different chickens.

You made the right choice. It would not turn out well to have all these chickens and no place for them to live.

Best not to put the cart before the horse. Take this time now to get your coop and run set up. When that is finished, only get as many chickens as it will comfortably hold.
