Did my chickens eat a soft shell egg? (pics)

I got my first egg earlier this week, and since then nothing. This morning when I went out to check on the girls, I found this in a pile of poop lol. It looks like it might have been a soft shell egg, kind of leathery. I'm wondering if maybe one of the birds ate it. What do you guys think?

interesting. It very well could have been. You'll get those every once and a while. Keep an eye out for any more egg eating, that is a tough habit to break them of.

My hens have laid those type of eggs every now and then and have eaten them. I was worried they would always eat their eggs from then on, but if the egg is normal they don't eat it. They laid soft eggs coming out of their molt.
