Excuse the title, but it is something I am seriously wondering right now. One of our Easter Eggers is missing tonight. We have several pheasants out in our field. Ever since our roo was killed a month ago, the rudys have been hanging out at the edge of the field wherever the hens happen to be and calling. One of them and our roo had a little 'squawking/crowing' standoff across the yard from each other earlier this summer. Our hens just turned a year old and have always stayed right in the yard. Last night, I couldn't find her for quite awhile, but she came back. Tonight, she didn't. Do you all think its possible the pheasant succeeded in luring her out there? She normally isn't broody, but that can always change. We have a hen with chicks in the coop with the rest of the hens, so maybe the little ones triggered something in her. I am hoping she will be at the door waiting for treats in the morning. I am realistic and realize something could have happened to her - I just hope she isn't hurt or stuck somewhere. Anyone ever have any experiences like this?
