I have 5 silkie eggs in an incubator, today is day 9. Unfortunately, I had to go out of town and I had no one at home to turn them for me. I turned them the night of day 4 before I left and the morning of day 8 when I got home, so they were 3 and a bit days with no turning. I candled them last night and they all have little chicks floating around in them. However, the veins and chicks are only on the side that was facing up in the incubator. Are they stuck to one side now, and in that case, will they not hatch?

Thanks.

Only time will tell. It's possible some are messed up, but not necessarily all of them. You may have a great hatch. You may not.

Not turning them can cause certain problems but "can" does not mean "absolutely will". Some people have done worse than that and gotten good hatches, life can be strong. But sometimes it does not work out well. I wish you luck. Come back and tell us how it goes.

Welcome to Backyard Chickens.
I wouldn't stress out over the-
I had to go out of town and I had no one at home to turn them for me.
If anything, it might only effect your hatch ratio.
As long as temp remained consistent. Never the less, I wish you the best w/your hatch.
Get that brooder ready! :jumpy:jumpy:jumpy

So just an update. Tonight I started lockdown, day 21 begins Sunday night so they are due to hatch around then. I candled them and I still have all five live chickies, and they seem to be taking up nearly all the egg. Fingers crossed!

Four healthy looking chicks, woo hoo.
The one that pipped on the wrong side still hasn't hatched though. I can see him breathing still poor guy.

This is how the wrong end pipper is looking. Just in the last couple hours he has been making progress chipping and making tears in the membrane. Fingers crossed!
