brown chinese have a longer and thinner neck than africans. Africans also are larger, have a thicker neck and are more robust in general. Think of it this way; a chinese goose more closely resembles a swan, and african goose looks more like a toulouse goose. remember to always compare gandes to ganders, geese to geese. It can be easy to think a chinese gander is an african goose. Hope this helps you... I have a post up about geese, nobody has answered it. If you could return the favor, i'd appricate it.

I don't think there really would be a way to tell exxcept for maybe the size in a gosling. When they are grown, it's basically a size and/or carriage difference, they still basically look the same.

I know this original post is old but I will throw in my 2 cents worth...
I bought a trio of adult Africans, hatched out 4 bought eggs that were Africans, and then bought 6 African goslings, all from different sellers. They all look alike as adults and they all look like Chinese to me! So I have decided that a lot of people can't tell the difference and call anything marked like an African an African!
I will call them Africans since that's what I bought until someone who knows more than me can tell me they are Chinese

But I honestly think they are Chinese.
