I am just wondering what the difference is between the Golden Lakenvelder and the Vorwerk? I've been doing some research on some breeds that I might get come spring, and I came across these breeds. I really like the looks of them. Some of the info I have read say they are one in the same, with Golden Lakenvelder being the North American name and Vorwerk being the European name. However, I have also come across info that says the Vorwerk is more of a bantam version? Also, if anyone has or has had this breed(s), are they pretty good for a backyard flocks?
Thanks!

I have a couple of Golden Lakenvelders, and they are great, white egg layers. Smaller size bodies than "dual purpose" breeds. Mine are shy and pretty quiet unless they're being chased (by a roo), in which case they are quite loud in protesting the unwanted attention. The rest of the time, not so much as a peep outa them. They can - and do! - fly quite well.

They tend not to range freely with the rest of the flock. Dunno if that's just MY birds, or if it's a trait of the breed.
