I have a batch now and will be hatching next friday another batch they will be about 23 days apart in age. will the older chicks hurt the new batch or can they exist in the same brooder?

From my experience three week old chicks tower over the day olds and thus I integrate them when the day olds are more like a week old. Best not to wait too long, as the earlier you integrate groups of chicks the better they will get along.

If the older chicks are bantams and the new ones are large fowl that works out really well LOL.

Hmm... We hatched had two batches at a tie but not this close! Do some experimenting I guess.
Remember though it may take them a couple days. If it starts very harsh you know the answer!
But I'm sure they will do fine.

thanks

they should be same breed essentially they all come from the same rooster and same batch of hens. Luckily the smaller chicks will outnumber the older chicks because my hatch looks to be having a higher percentage of developing eggs this time since i started with fresher eggs and adjusted the incubator and last time got five hatch of 15 from early on candling them i was sure of 4 2 maybes had five hatch and 2 developed embryos not hatch. One died so its four live chicks vs 16 candled eggs are moving in egg a week out from hatch date so i assume ill have way more than four new chicks
