Yes, but just because they're doing something wrong to you doesn't give you the right to do something "wrong" to them. Sure, they would get in trouble for theft, but you'd get in trouble for personal injury.

If it was me I would knock on his door and tell him if one more egg goes missing I'm blaming it on you. And the cops WILL be knocking on you're door next. If he's taking eggs he might feel its ok to take you're other belongings too. I saw a sign on ebay that said "chicken thieves will be shot on sight". Just saying.

IMHO

When someone is accused of being in the wrong their natural tendency to become defensive and attack.

So instead of accusing your neighbor, how about telling them that someone has been stealing your eggs and you would appreciate their help in catching the culprit?

Maybe a little sign that says something to the affect of "Neighbors can be shared with, but thieves will be prosecuted!" might get their attention and help them understand that asking as a neighbor will yield better results than stealing.
