Here is a picture of them today ! I read this on line :
A subtle striped pattern on their backs which typically fades as they mature.
Their down may show varied shades of red to almost black.
The stripe pattern of RIR is generally shown as four longitudinal black stripes on the back and is more likely to appear in females.
stripe pattern in females accounted for about 85–90% of the total female chicks, while in males, about 5% of the total male chicks. In this study.
Then this some place else. :
Pay close attention to patterns around eyes. Example: Speckled Sussex can look similar to Welsummer, however Speckled Sussex have a distinct eye line that curves up while Welsummer chicks have an eye line that goes straight back or slightly downward.
So now I am confused. Only one chick is red. Are the others Welsummer ????? There eye lines have a down ward to strait line.
Please give me your opinion. Thank You !
