This is only my second time incubating and hatching eggs.
The first time I only had 9 duck eggs and 7 of them hatched. (yay for my first time ever incubating!)

This time, I had 14 eggs shipped to me, they are supposed to be Silver Appleyards and Magpie x SA.
I then picked up another dozen eggs (Saxony and Anconas) and put them in the same incubator 3 days after the first set.

The first set should be only on day 23 according to when I put them in the incubator, but started to shake on day 20, so I took the auto turners out and have been hand turning a few times. Today I just noticed it looks like a few are starting to internally pip.

Now my question is.. how do I go about the hatching/lockdown process of the first batch of eggs while the 2nd batch (3 days behind) should probably still be turned?

-Also the air sacks on these look way bigger than my first batch of incubated eggs that hatched, and the only difference is my new candler lol-

My hubby bought me a Styrofoam incubator to hatch during lockdown breeds that wouldn't hatch at same time

I used to have 2 incubators but didnt think I would need them both so I sold one >.<
How I regret that now lol

I think I will keep turning until I start to see any external pips. Then I will just put them all on lockdown at the same time, a few days early for the newer batch should be okay I'd think?

It may seem like a lot of trouble but it’s really ideal to have a dedicated incubator for lockdown. It is really not a great idea to open the incubator multiple times a day during lockdown. Also the incubator gets pretty dirty as eggs hatch. If you’re not planning on incubating very many eggs then just get through this hatch, but if you’re planning to incubate on a regular basis I would definitely recommend having a dedicated hatcher. You can also increase the humidity in the hatcher.
