If you use one, where do you place it to get the most accurate reading and how do you place it (standing up, laying face up)? It is obviously not the same height as the egg.

So . . . you aim for 99.5 with the thermometer on top of the eggs, so underneath may be a little lower? Do you usually hatch out at 21 days?

yes. 21 days. 99.5 with a fan. 101.5 no fan. you do have a fan in the bator. with a fan you can put it anywhere you can see it to read it. my turner is most always filled so i just set the therm on top of the eggs. or in a empty hole in the turner. you just need to be able to read it without taking the top off.

Ugh! I have the LG bator & the instructions say 99.5. I thought I had read about adding a fan to the bator somewhere in passing, but I never attempted to do that. This bator is brand new, first time using it.

Hmm. This will lead to a late hatch ??? esp. with NOTHING going on & it's Day 21. Should I bump up the temp or add a little fan -- or just leave it alone at this point.

bump your heat to 101.5 if you can. Your hatch is going to be just a day or so late.
if you bump the heat, be sure to check Humidity often.

What would you recommend for the humidity? I've been on all day and 2nd guessing everything I'm doing. Thanks
