Hi everyone, I'm new to incubating and hatching quail eggs, my first attempt was last summer with not so good results, only one hatched and lived, currently 10 mos old, we named him bright eyes (avatar is his pic), I learned a lot of what not to do. I started more eggs this summer, two have hatched so far and they are two weeks old today. I have a limited number of eggs as we have the parents and beings its so hot here in southeast texas (pasadena), they are not laying consistently (i don't blame her). I found this site when I was looking for outdoor pen ideas.. so much information I don't think I have read so much on the internet in one place as this site has accumulated, everyone here has such great ideas and information, particularly love the "quail coop competition!...", looking forward to seeing the results. I'm kinda one of those not so creative but could follow directions if some get posted...

my goal (my children made for me when they came home and I had purchased 20 young coturnix from the feed store) is to build an outdoor aviary for these quail and future ones before purchasing eggs online or from a local source, this has also been mandated as a new house rule 'mother when can the quail move outside'?

all for now, thanks for reading and caring about our addictions !
