Directions to find proper information on rasing chickens please

Well as mentioned in the title my daughter will be getting 12 chicks for a 4H project in a week or so, I do not know much about this, her mother, my ex has bought lots of books on the subject, and I have started to read info on line about it. We will need to build a coop I guess and/or what ever else is needed too. Let me know where to go here thanks in advance, Elizabeths dad.

I think you've found the right website right here!

there are lots of people will assist you on this endeavor and give good advice. Not to mention, all the great articles that are in the forums and on the homepage.

With chicks, start reading all about their care then make them comfortable, fed and watered well.

Immediately design a coop because they will grow fast and you will need to get them outside and secure from weather, predators when they come of age. It doesn't take much to keep them content.

Surf through this website and you'll find a lot of answers!

I appreciate it and I'm sure that my 10 year old daughter will appreciate it as well, once we get things rolling a little here. I will go to the homepage and read up on rasing 101 and see what I need to get to start her chicken rasing right.

Also head right to the bookstore and snag a copy of Storey's Guide to Poultry. That book is a great help.
