I have a Plymouth Barred Rock that has had a perpetual poopy butt. First time I just cleaned her up. Second time just a few days later I cleaned her then trimmed some feathers away. 3rd time I cleaned and trimmed more liberally but she wasn't bare. Then today I go out and she has a messy butt again but also a bald spot that looks irritated. (See 1st pic).
I cleaned her up, dried her off, and applied anti fungal cream just in case it was vent gleet. It doesn't smell. Here's the 'after' pictures with it still pretty red and then later when the redness appeared to go down.
I'm thinking the bald spot may have been pecking. I'm going to check her again tomorrow but am open to advice on what the deal is...
