Does a little bit of dirty bum signal a problem? If not, what am I looking for in terms of the dreaded pasty butt?

Plus they run from my hand when I try to pick them up. I'm assuming that this will get easier as they get more used to us.

Had them all out on a towel this afternoon, pecking at ants if they dared cross their path. So cute.

Yep, pasty bum is where the poop gets caked over their vent so much that they can't defecate. If you see it, you can run them under some warm water, then pick off the crust. Don't feel too bad if you take a few feathers with it... there will probably be a bald spot at the end.

Yes, they will become more social the more you handle them.

Good luck!!
