I have a 7 month old Australorp hen with a dirty butt- started out as gleet, got that cleared up, it started again, got it cleared up, then pulled a big ol' worm out of her butt, wormed her...and her sisters in the same pen....she stayed dry for a few days and now she's dirty again. Skin underneath is pink and clean, she is active, eating and drinking. They get ACV in their eater, yogurt once in a while, DE and sulfur in their pen. Her sisters are laying regularly but she has not laid an egg in 2 months. I'm at a loss what else to do.

What are you feeding her? Do you have any pictures of her vent area or poop? Have you wormed her and with what? Was the worm around worm or other? Have you seen any tapeworm segments in her poop? Vent gleet causes raw feather-less skin around the vent, and a bad odor. There may be leaking urates. Miconazole given orally and on the skin may help if it is vent gleet. A poopy butt may not be vent gleet.

She gets Dumor layer feed, she has been wormed with Quest and she got Diflucan for the gleet (which cleared it right up!) The skin is pink and featherless, the drippage (eew) is sort of creamy and doesn't smell like gleet anymore. I will try to figure out how to upload pics

Here are some pictures from today

Oh, and the worm was yellow and sort of flat....I presume a tapeworm.
