My first ducklings arrived today in the mail, hatched on Monday. Unfortuntely they must have been flipped upside down at some point because both containers of grow gel were dry and empty and one of the ducklings was dead
Everyone else seems ok and is eating and drinking. The water has Save a Chick electrolytes in it. They are flinging food everywhere, including on each other (wetted crumble) and their little fuzzy down is getting sticky and crusty, maybe from the grow gel dumped on them combined with the food and electrolyte water. I know theyre too little for baths but the sticky down doesnt seem healthy either. Would it be safe to wipe them down with warm water on a cloth and put them right back under the heat lamp? Worried about them catching a chill.
