dirty water

so why is my ducks drinking water dirty (grey) every day. Is it poop? do they spit in it?

They stick their whole bill in to drink and spend a lot of their day with their bills in the mud looking for nummy things to eat.
Ducks are great, but they are messy and take more work to keep things clean. I have to clean the waterer out a couple of times a day if they are penned and don't have access to the creek.

It is a combination of feed, poop, mud, dirt,spit, backwash and dirty duck feet.

As long as it is changed daily a little duck spit won't hurt them.

Thankyou !! I change the water two times a day. I just didn't want my duck drinking anything that was bad for him.

Because they like it that way!!!

Seriously, I think my ducks would die of boredom if they had to live with clean water every day. And I would die of exhaustion trying to keep it that way.
