Disaster in the incubator.

I had a dozen Muscovy eggs and a dozen button quail going that were all due to hatch on friday. Apparently last night on my last night of turning I must have knocked out the thermostat probe. Woke up this morning to see the incubator at 127 degrees. So I killed everything. Great way to start the day. I broke open a couple eggs to see perfectly formed and ready to hatch babies. What makes it even worse is that my thermostat has a high and low alarm, but I only set the high side. Didn't think to worry about the low side but it would have saved my clutches. The probe was reading 77 because it was not even in the incubator. Pretty gutted right now. Especially because they were so close to hatching.

What a rotten way to start the morning. So sorry.

Hope this makes u feel better. I had a test hatch in this spring of 400 eggs and the fan went out. The temp got to 110 degrees; 2 hatched. i threw the rest 398 eggs 200 yards into the field and my older chickens found them and spread egg laying bacteria through the older flock. Have treated them and waiting for fall hatches.

Wow,those hens need to stop laying bad eggs...or it's off to the butcher!Or the roosters aren't doing thier job...maybe they should dress the hens in bikinis.....

It is worst when you're so far along and then something awful like that happens. I hope you feel better soon and are have a successful hatch the next time. (I wish I knew how to do that "hugging" icon thing because I have a feeling you could use a cyber-hug right now...)
