just finishing incubating £50 of quail eggs, looking like a 100% failure

have a brinsea octagon advance and not confident its working. have had the temperature at 99.8 for the whole duration and humidity at 47% until 3 days prior to hatch whereit came off the cradle and humidity up to 70%. have the auto humidity pump for that.
weight loss was good, about 10% before upping humidity

what i am worried about is the temperature, a second probe reads only 95f at the egg level and 98 at the top, thats despite it being fan assisted!

some have pipped but not looking good, i havent liftethe lid.

i think im goimg to get rid of this incubator..£190 worth! and get an rcom. just not confident in brinsea anymore despite the good reviews..lots of money lost but more important horrible seeing chicks not make it.

anyone explain the temperature?i cant! of course the probe im using could be wrong but it still shows the temperature appears to have a large gradient!

So sorry to hear that you are having problems with your octagon babe, I use the octagon for my chicken eggs.....have you tried setting the temp and running it empty for a couple of days before adding the eggs?
Are you using the thermometer that came with the incubator? If so what is that reading? It should be 38.5 C 101.3 F Also my manual that came with it says that quail hatch between day 16 and 19.

*hugs* Heather x

thanks for the sentiments

the guide i have says 99.8f for quail and so does a lot of internet sorces.
i think im going to go for an rcom one instead. i just dont know what the issue is, i have no faith in what the incubator settings are telling me

its 21 to 23 days for the quails i have, about 3 have pipped today but havent got far, its day 23

anyone with an rcom which model is best? looking at the 20 range

Some hatched over night, but only one breed, according to the people we got the eggs from they are all OK to brood together, one species have had 7 of 11, the rest, nothing! I'm still very wary of the temperature being wrong and still think I will change from brinsea to rcom
