Disease? Egg problem? I’m not sure.

Yesterday I found something sticking out of my roughly nine month old hen. She hadn’t started laying yet. We were advised to put her in warm water and try and ease it out. We set her in the warm water bath and the mass completely dissolved. She was still acting sickly last night when I checked on her and when I went outside this morning I found her dead. Does anyone know what might of happened and could if affect the rest of my flock? The images are of her yesterday afternoon.

Poor girl. Sorry you lost her.
That looks like perhaps an egg broke inside her that she later expelled but not all. Perhaps she went septic with infection and that killed her. I doubt what happened to her is a flock issue.

I second the above comment. It definitely looks like the thing hanging out of her is an expelled egg. Outside of that, I'm not sure what went wrong. I'm sorry for your loss, that's really sad. :(
