Disease preventing shipment new birds

Does anyone have information on a recent quarantine due to a disease preventing hatcheries from shipping chickens? I want to add pullets or grown hens to my flock. If you can call 3 birds a flock!!
Can you give more information?
Where do you live, what hatchery are you trying to order from, do you know the name of the disease?
Have you tried ordering and been denied?

There are restrictions from most hatcheries on shipments to certain parts of California due Newcastle outbreak.

I haven't tried to order, but I heard of this from a local chicken owner. Newcastle sounds like it. I'm in CA, sort of central mountains between LA and Mammoth Lake/Yosemite.

If you look at the hatchery links it tells what areas/zip codes they can not ship to.
I really appreciate those links you sent, Thank You. I want to read up on it. Even related to local farms. I got 3 young birds last fall and 1 turned out to be a rooster. I'd like to add a hen this summer, that's why I wanted an older bird. She might have a challenge fitting in with the 3 raised together

So you have a rooster with 2 pullets?
Have they started laying eggs yet?
Have you considered hatching your own eggs later on this year? Something to think about.
Personally, I would not get just 1 bird to add to a flock - I would get at least 2 so they have a buddy. Sometimes integrations can go smoothly, but a single bird may have a harder time of it.
