Filthy cage, not sure what all has been in it. I want to clean to put my baby chicks in it at 5 days old for a couple days. What should I use?

Depends on what material it is made of, what it looks like, and if you can move it. Knowing none of that I'd consider a soap or detergent (maybe dishwashing or laundry detergent) and a brush. First I'd probably want to hit it with water under force. A pressure washer would be great but just a hose with a normal spray head would work. I'd want to do this away from where the cage will be used both to keep the area dry and keep the filthy stuff away.

Like Ridgerunner wrote, first hose it down. This gets rid of so much "stuff". I then use diluted dish detergent and use the hose to move it around, then rinse. Use what you would scrub with, brush, pots and pans scrubber, even a wash cloth. Hose down to rinse. That is for the solid areas, floor, floor mat, sides if they are solid. If this is a wire crated, I would use a washcloth and diluted dish detergent then put the hose on spray to rinse. Dry in sun for a few minutes if plausible.

If you want to use a 'disinfectant' I would use my essential oil cleaner and give it a wipe down.

If it's wood getting it wet may take days to fully dry.
Can you post pics, or at least a better description of the cage and the filth?
