so today i went out to visit my flock. I noticed that my barred rock was not folding her right wing against her body. It was not like this yesterday. Could it be broken? I don’t know how she hasn’t left my run. I checked it and she let me touch the wing but whimpered the closer i got to her body. There are no visible wounds. Should i try to make her a sling. Any suggestions.

Ok this looks like a break but im no expert. First you wanna feel for a break. Second youre gonna have to realign the bone. Third make a splint with a thin piece of wood that fits on her wing. Then wrap it tight but not too tight. If it's not a break then try to pop it back in then move the joint arount to make sure its in the right spot. Good luck!

Here is a link which may help. Without a vet and x-rays the only way to know is to examine the entire wing bit by bit comparing with the other normal wing to try to identify where the fracture is, if there is one. The link then gives instruction on wrapping and healing times. The site is for wildlife rehab but the anatomy is the same. http://wildliferehabber.com/rehab-data/wing-fractures
It's also possible that she just 'tweaked' something, like a pulled muscle and it's just really sore. Doing a thorough exam and comparison as gently as you can will hopefully answer that question. As always, if you have access to a vet that sees birds, that is your best option.
