Help my baby quail , Simba, has what looks like a hurt wing. He starts panting every few min. He is the top of the pecking order in my 4 chicks, hatched May 27-31. Please help he is my little brothers favorite and would never forgive me if he is hurt! :( :/

Can you feel a fracture on wing? Look under wing for any wounds. If you feel a fracture or dislocation gently spread wing out, this may help to realign bones/dislocation,are there any bones protruding from skin? Once you have wing in correct position gently fold wing up close to body in a normal position, place some type of padding under wing to prevent chafing of skin, then wrap wing to body in a figure eight. If wrapping wing is too stressful for your bird then just leave unwrapped,he/she may end up with a permanently droopy wing which is not really an issue.

Bird is probably panting from pain, give electrolytes for shock and keep him/her inside, keep warm and monitor for eating/drinking.

Warm! Haha i swear it hit the 90s today!
No obvious wound wing not dragging but is held higher than normal when I dropped him 2 feet in the air he flew normal
he also used the hurt wing to balence himself when I held him.
He is ownly 7 1/2 weeks old!

Why on earth would you drop a chick with an injured wing 2 feet in the air,you could have done more damage to this bird! Is someone being too rough with this chick and possibly this is how bird was injured?

I didn't really drop it but I was holding him and he wiggled out! I would never hurt him! Anyways I needed to find out how his wing was! And I was told to do it by someone I trust and has lots of experience I also allways hold them vary gently thank you very much!:(
