I feel the same way. It's never feels good, but it's easier to do farther down the road.

if raccoons are not killing your birds they will kill someone elses, plus destroy your fresh corn from your garden, coons are beutiful in the wild, around chickens they are cold blooded heartless killers.who needs them??running hotwire is an option, but expensive, its an ongoing battle.

Sorry, I'm LMAOROTF. I use the CB shorts in a 22LR, its quiet and efficient. The Havahart trap I have does a a few spots where I can place the barrel and wait for the right angle. The trick is not to look at the coon but to use your imaginary X-ray vision and see the brain. One quiet "PoP", then toss in weeds or get the spade as you see fit. There is not much blood unless you miss the brain shot

You gotta do what you gotta do. Put the trap back out cause another coon is going to take that ones place real soon. Get used to it, it is the only way to keep up your numbers. Get ready for bigger animals in the traps, bobcats and neighbors cats as well if you live by people.
