DIY coop made from a table

We have a coop for our chicks when they go outside but since they hatched we also bought two silkie babies the same age. Our coop may be too tall for the bantams to get into so I thought of making a smaller coop to go in same run for them. I have an old solid wood table I was thinking of repurposing but can’t find any help online as all that comes up is coffee table coops which isn’t what I need. Anyone ever make one? Or have any ideas ?

This is just for two chickens of the same age? I'd bet they'll just join the regular flock, it's what our bantam silkies did, they had no issues getting up the roosts at night.

For a table coop being placed inside a secure run, I'd imagine just fill in between the legs with mesh would work fine.

My first thought is what does the existing coop look like. How hard would to be to fix it so the Silkies can get into it? It's the first potential solution I'd look at.

Do you consider that run predator proof? That can make a lot of difference in how you construct the coop.

Are there any restrictions due to the run? Things like height if it is covered? Or the footprint of the run? Is it level?

Not sure what your microclimate might be. Are you at elevation where it actually gets cool? Someplace really hot. Do you flood?

I'd also like to see dimensions, including height, and a photo to see what you are working with.

I cringe at the idea of wasting a structurally-sound, solid wood dining table by putting it out in the weather in a chicken run where it will fall apart in a couple years. Solid wood tables are so expensive now.

The Silkies ought to be able to walk up a ramp or hop from step to step like other chickens even though they can't fly.

Sorry been leaving before sunrise and getting home after sunset . I’m off weds and will take pics of our existing coop and of the table/dimensions etc.
I live in Hawai’i so we have mild weather and minimal predators thankfully the original coop I have isn’t that high off the ground however I was worried the roosts would be too high for silkies to get in (and it is just the 2 silkies (now down the road im not sure lol chicken math and all that lol)

I don't have Silkies but have read several posts on this forum where people have Silkies that do not roost up with the other chickens. They don't have to. Access to the nests or them wanting to sleep in the nests may be problems.

It just feels wrong to try to train them to go to sleep in a separate coop if you can avoid it. A lot of the time they don't want to do what you want them to, it can be challenging. Good luck on getting those photos.
