I have ducks, and duck eggs. I have made a cardboard box into an incubator. There is a 99 degree heat lamp over it with pine shavings, and a large bowl of water. Does anyone know how effective diy incubators especially for duck eggs, and will it work?

Hi, sorry, no one was able to respond to your post, the setup you describe doesn't sound like the most efficient incubator, I would suggest buying a new incubator or checking out some DIY ones on here, there are many.

The cardboard incubator is not insulating enough for hatching any eggs unless your outside air temp is in the 85 to 90 degrees. I made an aquarium incubator on my last hatch just to try it out, so it was just an experiment. I did get 2 chick out of 4 viable eggs, but it was a hassle maintaining temps.
