Hey, new here but not new to chickens..so to keep it short, I haven’t had good luck with my chickens for a few years, that’s why we only keep some every other year or so. Anyway, predators have gotten bad recently. One section of the coop has chicken wire, one has a dog lot so the holes are much larger. (A bit hard to explain sorry lol). So it’s easy for a predator to get in, it’s how they did last time. I keep my chickens locked at night in the top part, the box, making it harder for predators to get to. Now to the topic since you have some info. I need a temporary solution. Moving-head decoys are way too expensive for us right Now. Also my father is going to be putting up an electric fence around the coop soon for the predator problem, but - due to some reasons I won’t say for personal reasons - my father won’t be able to set it up or do much work on it for a while probably. Also, we’re going on vacation soon so that’s even worse. So..I’ve done a bit of research and I was wondering, okay, so first it’s said- I’m EXTREMLY creative and will do a bunch of crafts and stuff. I was wondering, will a coyote decoy temporarily (key word temporarily) work if it’s cardboard? Or does it have to be 3D? Maybe I can add pieces of CD to it for eyes so when flashed it the dark it looks more realistic. I’d paint it and make it life size. I already have everything I need and sizes and templates and all. So in conclusion, basically I know that decoys (of pretty much any) work for temporary use (that’s all I need) but can it work for a DIY cardboard, painted one with flashy eyes?? Thank you. Sorry I write so much lol.
