Do all Welsummer hens lay that iconic dark chocolate brown egg or is it just some?

I have acquired some Welsummer hens however the eggs they have been laying vary some are cream coloured with light to heavy speckling to some looking like ISA Brown eggs, they are over a year old and just finished their moult, will the iconic Welsummer eggs come later on or is that young hens only.

They should be darker the younger they are. Mine laid dark brown speckled eggs. Don’t know if I would describe them as iconic. French Black Cooper Marans eggs, maybe. Do you have pictures of your birds?

Generally, only birds that the breeder has made egg color a focus will have very dark brown eggs.

If they are hatchery birds, the egg color will probably be lighter. Deer Run Farm has Welsummers with nice dark brown eggs.

If they have resumed after a break from molting this is generally when their eggs are the darkest during the season. Unfortunately as mentioned some hatcheries and even breeders don't focus on eggs.
I wanted some new blood so ordered from a fellow breeder of good looking birds. The eggs in the carton are what I received, I was very disappointed. the top cracked egg is one of mine.
