wait are you talking about the chicks being save or what? if you are then they holes just shouldn't be big enough for the babies to get through so they have to stay with mom unless she leave. And they will only follow there mom it she hatched them.

They follow warmth which is usually a light or another chicken. So theyll stay with their mom to keep warm usually.

oh, thanks! i knew it was sort of a dumb question, but this is the first batch i will be getting that will be raised up with their mom/s xD confused? well yesterday ANOTHER broody hen came up and shared the eggs that the first broody hen was setting on, so that means two moms!

yeah the second broody screeches like a banchie when you come near her! HER PECKS REALLY HURT TOO!!!

yeah when my silkie gets broody and freaks out and if you pick her up she stays in the same postion lol. Oh and to stop pecking I would flick her beck each time but not to hard just enough to let her know you mean business and then she will just make the noise and not peck

It isn't a stupid question. If the babies can't get to mom, she will call them to her, if they can't get to her, she doesn't always go to them if she has other chicks. I almost found out the hard way and lost a bunch of BR that couldn't figure out how to go up a ramp. I found them before it was too late. They can fit in little holes and not be able to get back, done it, been there, they fit through one inch fence, but can't get back.
