Hello,

My husband and I just bought 7 chicks today. He finally gave in to my crazy idea of being an in-town chicken owner. We were told by someone at Wilco that the baby chicks need grit, but then I saw a post that says that the chicks only need their feed. Which is true? Our chicks are about a month away from being feathered and ready for the coop. We were really lucky to find chicks this late in the year.

I am so excited to have found this website and so many other people doing the same thing!

Thanks,
Heidi

Hi & Welcome to BYC.

If you are just feeding chick starter then you do not need grit.
If you are giving them other food/treats than you do need to supply grit.
