I have two Brahma Lights that are 12 weeks old. Neither have saddle feathers or red, developed combs, but one is getting greenish tail feathers, which worries me. Do hens get greenish tail feathers?

Welcome to BYC. Glad you decided to join our flock. The first breed I ever owned were Light Brahmas (50 years ago), and the answer to your question is "yes," Light Brahma pullets can develop a greenish tint to their black tail feathers. Please feel free to ask any other questions you may have. We are here to help in any way we can. Good luck with your Brahmas.

Thank you so much for your welcome and answer. I feel much better. These two babies are supposed to be girls and we are very attached to them. They are affectionate and love our dogs as much as they love us. So it would break our hearts if we could not keep one.

Hello! I am new as of yesterday and don't have a clue how to post a new question so hear it goes!
I am about to start my second flock and thinking of keeping 2 BO hens 2 RIR hens and one BO Roo.
My first flock consisted of 6 RIR but a fox took all my feathered babies :,(.
I was wondering if those breeds are a good combination? Thank you in advance for the advice :)

I'm sorry about your loss to a fox. It's always sad to lose some of our flock. There is a good article at http://www.the-chicken-chick.com/2013/07/11-tips-for-predator-proofing-chickens.html on predator proofing your chickens. Those two breeds will work fine together as long as they are not overcrowded. Overcrowding can quickly lead to aggression, fights, biting and feather plucking, and even cannibalism with any breeds. RIRs are typically more aggressive than BOs which are one of the most gentle breeds (great lap pets), so your RIRs will most likely dominate the pecking order. Of course there can always be an exception with any breed.
