I have two young ones that have had leg issues for a long time now. Im taking care of them in hopes that some day they will be able to walk. They have movement in their legs but are stiff can cannot stand or walk.

The question is about potential fevers in both of them. They are so hot when I hold them. I live where it is cool so I dont think the weather is why their bodies are so hot. Their legs can feel very cool but their bodies feel like they are on fire.

Do chickens run a fever when they are sick and what can I do about it other than perhaps antibiotics?

Chicken's normal body temperature is 103 +/- 2 degrees. You can get a digital thermometer with disposable covers for its probe and use it in their vent. If they have elevated internal temperatures, they probably have an infection of some sort. Yes, they do get fevers.

Thank you for your responses. I started both of my feverish ones on antibiotics. I just held one and she seems a little cooler than yesterday when I held her. Ill continue the antibiotics for a few days then follow up with probiotics.
