I ordered 4 Australops and 2 EE chicks that should be here March 13th, will they all moult at the same time, or is it typically spread out over several months? I know its several months away but I'm kind of curious about it.

It depends....................

I know, not really any help was I.

We have seen whole flocks molt all at once, and have had them molt 1 or 3 at a time.

I am not sure as to why.

It seems there is always at least one that molts when it is absolutely horrible weather, and they always seems to survive it unscathed.

Good luck with the new chicks.

Thank you, that helps, my wife and I were wondering if we would be buying eggs for a few months while they all moult.

It's unlikely that your pullets will molt this year. They will wait till next year.

Chickens are weird- I've only had 1 chicken molt once in 8 years. I just get micro molting year round. With no slow down in eggs.
