Do chickens have a lot of health issues?

Or am I just having a bad week?
It's my first week with my chicks, and I can't say it's been going well. In fact, it seems like one thing after another. Is this just the way it is with chickens? How can people stand it!

I'm sorry to hear you are having a bad week. I think the first week IS the most difficult, a lot depends on things that are out of your control. Like their travel situation and their overall health depending on the hatchery/individual etc. We got lucky and didn't lose any chicks. We have had one hen go down with some unidentified problem, she just couldn't walk. We finally had to have her put down. Another one at the same time got all wonky but she recovered and is pretty much ok now. We have had them for a year now and those were the only issues. Actually, I forgot that they got cocci. That was bad but we didn't put them out on grass early enough and they didn't develop an immunity. Chicks are tough to raise. Good luck to you and it will get easier. Good luck! Don't worry
