I'm not sure if its normal or not but my chickens have really dry skin on their faces kinda like when you get ashy legs before you put lotion on. My rooster has a couple of scabs on his comb but they seem like they are going away. At first i thought mites but i dont see them crawling around but maybe thats because im not looking at the right places. so is it normal or is this a sign of something else?

Sounds like lice/mites. Some can only be seen on the birds at night. The scabs could be just that, scabs, or they could be fowl pox. You need to address the mites/lice but don't worry about the scabs.
