Do ducks ever eat mice?

Just a question... I was wondering if they will take care of the mice themselves or do I need to set out poison?

craziest thing I ever saw... My Mandie hen was trying to get something down and I went to check on her. It was a mouse she had just killed! Pretty dang cool! I gave them some more protien after I saw that.

I knew they would eat baby mice... But to kill and eat a full grown mouse? Crazy stuff... I guess I never knew...

I found a dead rat my Pekins obviously caught in their house one morning. My female Pekin caught a frog last summer but it was too big for her to eat so I made her let it go. The other day I found a single pinky mouse in some grass seed, so I offered it to the first duck to come and get it. My tiny Pekin drake grabbed it up and mushed it about his bill before dropping it. The female came along and said "Let me show you how it's done" and gobbled it right up.

I wouldn't count on them for pest control though. I just know now not to use poisons anywhere. I set out snap traps just outside their pens at night, beyone reach of their bills. I've had some luck with that.

Last year, my 4-week-old ducklings killed a mouse that must have gotten too close to the wire dog crate they were in in the garage. They didn't manage to swallow it, but when I found it they had dipped it in the water and it was all mangled.

My adult ducks must kill mice too, because I find one in the bottom of their kiddie pools every once in awhile when I'm cleaning. Maybe the mice are just slipping in and drowning, but the ducks definately nibble on them - whenever I see my big, old Pekin duck dabbling at the bottom of the pool for an extended period of time, I always find a dead, bloated mouse with some missing parts at the bottom.
