This is probably a really dumb question, but ... I have heard that EE have green legs. I hatched 6 chicks from green eggs about 5 weeks ago. I was expecting the legs on the chicks to have a green cast to them. The chicks are a typical buff EE coloring and markings, but their legs are bright yellow. The eggs were given to me from a friend's MIL and I don't know much about the lineage. Any thoughts?

No they don't have to have green legs to lay green eggs. Sounds like Dr. Suess......

If they hatched from a green egg, they more than likely will lay some color of greenish eggs.

Thanks for the reply. I was really hoping that was the answer.

Love the bird in your avatar. Hope to someday get some bearded chickens.

I have an EE with yellow legs but I can't tell you what color she lays because she hasn't laid yet

. I'm hoping for a green/blue color.

I have some EE pullets and their legs range from slate to green to yellow to white. Some have started to lay and I'm getting pretty minty blue-green eggs from a yellow legged girl and from a white legged one.
