Do hawks offer a problem to gamefowl?

I have just recently bought two Asil chickens and the rooster seems like he could hold his own free ranging in the yard. I was wondering would a hawk be a concern or could the rooster just teach him a lesson?

depends on the individual.. American and orientals alike. both roosters and hens (especially with chicks) sometimes will send the hawk down the road or kill it ( have seen that with a brown red long ago) But if he's the type that runs from predators that can fly.. unlikely.

I've heard stories of hawks getting into an American gamecocks brood pen and the cock would kill it. American gamecocks have a whole nother type of "game" bred into them than orientals.

I'm not sure about oriental gamecocks though. We raise Thai/Brazilian shamo in Central California and when they see a hawk over head they all scream and run for cover (including roosters). I'm sure if a hawk got trapped in a brood pen of one of our shamos the hawk would be in trouble.
