Have you ever had hens go and stay broody when temperatures are in the upper 90s and 100s? Is it unusual? When is peak broodiness season for most hens?

My go broody whenever they feel like it, sometimes in the coldest part of winter, sometimes the hottest part of summer. At least 10% of my flock is broody right now and my egg production shows it. The issues of orpingtons and SFH. There isn't an empty nest box in my one coop, the ones still laying lay in the corner. Three nest boxes, 5 broodies.

Thanks for the info, everyone. What is an SFH, chiques chick?

Thanks for the info. Never heard of that breed before. Do you have a pic?

I'm having trouble uploading from my phone, but I'm pretty sure there are a few on my profile page.

There is an entire thread of them on here somewhere. Not really a breed, technically a landrace.
