My 4 girls are out in the rain and do not seek shelter. It is not cold but is raining a lot. My question is will it hurt them to be wet all the time and when they go in at night to roost they will be wet. I doubt they will dry out over night so will it be harmful to be wet for a length of time?

Also do chickens like the rain? Mine seem to.

Thanks

well some do some dont they have opinions too lol i have a girl that will hop into the shower with me and get straight under the water. i also think it cools em off and they should be ok

it depends on the individual hen. most of mine seem to enjoy the rain, the quails LOVE the rain! i can hear them making happy sounds from in here!

they will be fine

Mine seem to love getting drenched...I drive by the pen to and from errands and there they are in complete downpours-I always feel bad for them. One time I put them in their coop when it was raining so hard. I came down a few minutes later to feed my others and there they were-out in the rain again-I stopped caring about the rain at that point!

at that point, i would stop caring too. i figure your ladies like it. i certainly like the rain! i like being out in a downpour, it's refreshing. my mom goes "GET INSIDE! you'll get sick!" and i don't because to me it feels healthy. your ladies must be the same way!

the rain fills all the air space from the bugs and worms and drives them to the surface so it is the best time for a buffett of critters. I bet they see rain and think snack time!
