How much do chicks and chickens normally eat in a day/week/month?

The past week my 6 6-7wk old chicks are acting more like pigs. They didn't seem to have a gradual increase in food intake, more like all at once! Just wondering what is normal for chicks/chickens so I can plan ahead Certainly never want to run out of food for my new buddies.

I have 25 that are just over 5 weeks. They went through 3 lbs. the first week. Then about 6 lbs. a week for the next 3 weeks and now are eating about 7 lbs. a day.

Mine are a medium weight dual purpose breed.

Laying hens are meant to eat about 125 grams/ 4.5 ounces a day, but I've never actually tested that! I have no idea about chicks. Hope this helps.

Bantams and light egg breeds WAAAY less.
