I have 6 month old chickens and 5 month old chickens. Up to now I believed I had all hens. Today I was at the coop and saw one mounting another. Made me think I may have a rooster. I have 12 chickens 3 of each breed cuckoo maran, lt brown leg horn, araucana, light brahma. Is there way for sure to tell a rooster? I have noticed some of the chickens have a larger wattle but I have also read that that may not be a distinguishing feature of a rooster. They aren't old enough to have their spikes on their legs to tell for sure. I took the whole 98% pullets to heart but if the wattle is a sign I may have a few more roosters than I may like. Any help in determining would be great.
