Sorry if this subject has been brought up over and over again, but I am new to the Back Yard Chickens site and have a question. I have had these two RIR's for about 2 weeks now and one of them is quite larger than the other with a larger tail and black stripe on its head. From what I read ( yes these are my first chickens ever ), if one of the birds is larger and has a more prominent tail feather it is most likely a rooster. And the hens will have a black stripe on their heads with smaller stature and tail feathers. Im SO confused, and I cannot have a rooster where I live. Can someone PLEASE help me out by looking at my picture ( I think I loaded it correctly ) of my babies, and tell me if I might have a rooster?

Thanks so much!

Sorry, was trying to figure out how! lol Think I did it right.....

Its a bad picture, I have the camera batteries charging now and will get a better one. I really like the larger bird, it seems more tame than the smaller one. As fun as a pair would be, I cant have a rooster! So I really hope ( no offense of course! ) that youre not right

I'm giving the same answer, the larger one is a roo, it's already showing a larger comb and the little one pullet. I hope I'm wrong too!

I agree...

As much as I dont want to agree with you, I do. And I have thought that from about the fourth day I had them. So much for being told they were both pullets eh? lol
