Do I need a rooster?

One of my hens recently got caught by a hawk, I got a rooster yesterday and hope that that will not be as much of problem, plus I love the sound they make. both crowing and talking to hens.

I don't have a Rooster, I do have neighbors on both sides with Roosters. I was told if my hens get out they would head right for their Roosters if I don't have one. Any truth to that?

YEP! Also hubby had a pair of chickens years ago, something ate the hen so the rooster flew the coop in search of hens, so it works both ways!
