Do meat birds roost?

Silly question. . .

I am planning to raise some meat birds in a tractor. Just got to wondering if they need a roosting spot like the layers.

Mine like to roost, but just make sure you keep the roosts low to the ground or they won't be able to get their fat little bodies on the roost for very long.

They will if given the opportunity, but it's advised to not provide roosts for meat birds. Many develop leg problems due to their fast growth. Having them jump up and off the roost can worsen the legs from the impact.

I lay a 2 x 4 down in their pen. It is only two inches up, and they can step up that far without jumping. Gives them the thrill without the danger!
