Does anyone give their meaties a roost? Do they ever learn to use it? Or are they too young/heavy?

And what about feeders? Although I seem to remember that you shouldnt free-feed meaties.

Obviously they dont need nest boxes, do you give them some kind of shavings to scratch/sleep in?

Because I [gasp!] tractor mine (although mine are Cornish and not Cornish X)...

No.
I use big round 3 gallon pans for both food and water.
No. No need for bedding when you move them every day.

I use shavings, no need for the roost.
I feed them with gutters that I screwed to the wall, cheap, easy to fill and hold alot.
Some people feed them 24/7 and some do 12 hours on and 12 off.
I have a large waterer and a heated waterer and use them depending on what the weather is at the time.
I have three heatlamps.
My chickens are in a pen, framed in with hardware cloth for walls and roof.
I use a tarp to cover the roof and walls at night or in bad weather and open it all for air flow the rest of the time if its nice out.
Even in bad weather I leave one side open for air flow and the rain doesn't get in.
I open the doors during the day when I am out there working in the yard so they can come and go if they choose, a surprising number of them will go out and wander around.
You don't need a whole lot to get started.
